Standards: Engineering and Architecture
The Palm Desert High School Engineering and Power Technology Pathway has three key components: a three course sequence of engineering classes, opportunities for engineering-related college and career exploration, and numerous projects and competitions through Skills USA.
Engineering Courses include:
-
Introduction to Engineering Design ("d") [9th]
-
Sustainable Design, Engineering and Architecture ("d") [10th]
-
Power Connections to the Environment ("d") [11th]
-
Engineering Design and Development ("g") [12th]
Pathway courses satisfy the University of California subject requirements in Laboratory science ("d") and College-preparatory elective ("g"). The intent of the "a-g" subject requirements is to ensure that students have attained a body of general knowledge that will provide breadth and perspective to new, more advanced study. The curriculum includes units designed by Project Lead The Way.
The Engineering Technology pathway provides learning opportunities for students interested in preparing for careers in the design, production, or maintenance of mechanical and electromechanical systems and products.
